Jack Winn is a Talented Artist from birth. He was born in the Canal Zone, Republc of Panama. His mother is part Hawaiian so after leaving they returned to Hawai’i, and to Hawaiian schools and the Honolulu Academy of Arts, where he had 3 Scholarships to learn methods of painting, etcetera. After college and preparation to become a Physical Education teacher He was offered an opportunity to teach art classes in a Middle School. Later, He was given the opportunity to pilot an Art Curriculum at a High School. The only formal art education he received was from classes
He received in Junior High School from Stanley him. Yamamoto, the art teacher. He learned the art of the Northwest Coastal peoples on my own and fell in love with it. For 20 years he taught natives of the Makah Nation. A number of his students went on to become masters of Native American Art and practice their art for their living. Upon retiring he decided to use my talents and to develop his own style of North Coastal Art. As you view his works keep in mine that he doesn’t portend to be a classical native artist. I
