Electrosect is the production alias of Patrick Haenelt. In Seattle, Patrick and his partners Greg Skidmore, Paul Edwards, and Scott James ran Oscillate; a weekly event, that ran for 4 years at both SeeSound Lounge and The Baltic Room (from 2004-2008) Oscillate was a popular series focusing on left field and abstract electronic music. His (now retired) production company, Sensory Effect also produced some of the area’s more exciting shows over the last decade; including shows for international artists as diverse as Modeselektor, Amon Tobin, Jega, Ellen Alien, The Herbalizer, kid606, Plaid, Boyz Noise, Autechre, Josh Wink, Kid Koala, The Herbalizer, Egyptian Lover, .Adult, and many others.
Since the summer of 2009, Patrick has teamed up with local promoter and sound technician Kyle Bove and joined the Live N Love production family in Seattle; as well as being a key manager of this years’ Photosynthesis Festival.
His production style is an eclectic mix of deep bass sounds, intricate beat programming, melodic flourishes, and spacial textures; creating a heady stew of psychedelic sounds. Never feeling comfortable with any one sound, you can hear him play live techno, downtempo, breaks, and any style that fits a certain mood of the moment. Recently Patrick has also been recording and performing with vocalist Roman Syche in the abstract/electronic/avant pop project; DECOR. The band has received accolades from well known publications such as PITCHFORK MEDIA and Seattle’s own; THE STRANGER.
Stay tuned for more as this exciting new project develops…..
For this year’s Photosynthesis Festival, Patrick will be performing a live downtempo set in the H’art Center with live bass guitar and keys from local musician Matthew Brunhaver.
