Alex Ubatuba has been making objects out of glass since the year 2000. “Glass fascinates me because of it’s limitless potential. The boundless color palette, the ability to freeze movement in time, and the transparency all come together for this material. It can take decades to master certain aspects of technique, and I intend to learn as much as I can in my lifetime. Most of my journey has been spent traveling the country, and working with the some of the most highly skilled artists in the industry. Lampworked glass is an art form that should be seen in more public venues to inspire others. I am currently working on public installations with light and borosilicate glass. I have been experimenting with intelligent lighting and projections for a body of work called “Living Light Sculptures”.
